SFDA President visits SFDA's Laboratories in Jeddah Islamic Port to support their role in Food & Drug Control

H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Kanhal, CEO of the Saudi FDA met in Jeddah yesterday, Tuesday 10/7/1431 AH, with H.E Dr. Khalid Abu Bushayt, CEO of the Saudi Ports Authority in order to discuss cooperation aspects between SFDA & Saudi Ports Authority with regard to entry of imported food and drug to the Kingdom. H.E.CEO of the Saudi FDA paid a visit to the allocated SFDA buildings within the ports to control the safety, security and validity of imported food and drug from abroad.

H.E.CEO of the Saudi FDA also visited Mr. Suleiman Abdullah Al Twaijri, the General Manager of Jeddah Islamic Port Customs, and discussed during their meeting the work mechanisms between SFDA and Jeddah Islamic Port, viewed Northern & Southern customs clearance sections, shipments clearance, direct clearance and automated SFDA clearance system. He also viewed how samples are received ,tested and directly opened in addition to surveillance mechanism of frozen chicken, beverages and fruit, canned vegetables, meat and other foods.
Within his visit to Jeddah Province, H.E.CEO of the Saudi FDA visited SFDA's Laboratory in Jeddah Islamic Port and viewed the testing and inspection processes and laboratory operations carried out by the laboratory on imported food, drug and all types of cosmetic products. He also viewed a number of advanced devices of chemical testing of food and other modern devices recently provided to SFDA's laboratories within a comprehensive plan for re-structuring and rehabilitation of SFDA's laboratories at the Points of Entry to cope with the latest technologies in detection of food components and ingredients.
It worth mentioning that a video presentation was delivered about SFDA's projects at the level of Food, Drug & IT Sectors during the open meeting of HE SFDA President in the event of his visit to Jeddah Islamic Port, Customs. KAIA- Jeddah and his visit to SFDA staff in the Western Sector.
