Responsibilities:

The Department is responsible for the registration, licensing and control of feed and non-medicated feed additives establishment (factories & warehouses). It includes the inspection operations for local feed mills & foreign feed mills want to export their products to the Kingdom. The Department also sets the technical & health standards of feed mills to be in consistence to the international standards to ensure feed safety for animals & peoples that consume animal products & by-product.

Tasks:

• The control of animal feed to ensure its safety and quality through :
  1. Registration and licensing for feed establishments.
  
  
  
  2. Registration and licensing for locally produced and imported feed & non-medicated feed additives.
  
  
  
  3. Give import permits for feed & non-medicated feed additives & implements its control at BIP.
  
  
  
  4. Doing Inspection for local feed establishments inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  
  
  
  5. Apply and impose rules and regulations ensuring feed safety.
  
  
  
• Contribute with the executive Department of the technical and specifications in the preparation and reviewing of the rules and regulations and specifications of feed.
• Contribute with the executive Department of risk analysis in feed risk-based studies including chemical & microbiological contaminants.
• Contribute with the executive Department of monitoring centers to follow the un-wanted & restricted contaminants ensure contaminant monitoring programs in animal feed.
• Contribute with the executive Department of Laboratories in performing animal feed & feed additives analysis to ensure its safety.
• Participation in international activities and programs concerning to the animal feed safety.
• Contribute with the executive Department of awareness and communication through Preparation of scientific material concerning animal feed & feed additives essentials for animal farm projects
