SFDA Hosts the 5th. GCC Sub-Committee Meeting for Food Additives & Pollutants

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by SFDA ( Food Sector), hosted the 5th. GCC Sub-Committee Meeting for Food Additives & Pollutants at SFDA’s Head Office in Riyadh during the period 24-25/3/1343H(5-6 February,2013) attended by delegates from all GCC states and a number of SFDA’s Food Sector Staff.
H.E. Dr. Ibrahim bin Saad Al Mehaizie, SFDA’s Vice President for Food Affairs, stated that the meeting
has discussed several issues related to food additives and pollutants. The Key issues included review of SFDA’s accomplishments through its task forces that comprised a group of professionals concerned with several issues such as the microbiological limits for food, updating food pollutants specifications, veterinary drugs residues and pesticides residues on foods in addition to updating food additives specifications.The meeting has also discussed updating of the GCC Technical regulation GSO 995:1998 related to allowed food sweeteners in addition to GCC Technical regulation GSO 1016:1998 related to microbiological limits for food-Part 1 and the committee’s plan for 2013 and other topics listed on the meeting agenda.
