The SFDA Plans to Set a National Project to Monitor Residues of Pesticides and Chemical Pollutants in Food

The SFDA food sector is planning to establish a center to monitor residues of pesticides and chemical pollutants in food. In this regard, d. Ibraheem bin Saad Almuhaize, the vice executive president of food affairs stated that food sector will start establishing a laboratory to monitor pesticides residues as a first step of this center. Nowadays, food sector examines international experiences by hosting experts in field of monitoring residues of pesticides and chemical pollutants in food and cooperating with the UN Development Program to shed lights on international procedures and other countries experiences in this area in order to benefit from them in planning its project. The SFDA has hosted the vice general director of Food Safety Authority in Hungary, d. Erbard Embrous who delivered a lecture entitled "The Best International Procedures in Monitoring Pesticides Residues in Food and Lessons of other Countries Experiences". In the lecture, he explained the strategies of taking specimens according to kinds of consumed food and consumption styles. He also illuminated the plans of taking specimens and the fundamental information about statistical methods which the plans depend on.
