The SFDA and the Ministry of Municipalities Launch Intensive Regulatory Campaigns to Ensure the Safety of Food Products During Ramadan

2025-03-01

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, has initiated comprehensive regulatory campaigns spanning diverse regions and cities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These campaigns, driven by a commitment to bolstering food safety during the holy month of Ramadan, focus on verifying the quality of commonly consumed food items during this period and ensuring their adherence to established health regulations.

The campaigns prioritize intensified inspections in food warehouses, sales outlets, and distribution centers. They focus on verifying the accuracy of food and nutritional data, assessing facility compliance with transportation and storage requirements, and examining product tracking mechanisms. This ensures that markets are free of unfit products and emphasizes adherence to technical regulations and standard specifications.

Alongside inspections, the campaign includes food awareness programs for food establishment employees, aiming to increase compliance with health requirements and ensure the provision of safe, quality-compliant products.

Special attention is given to the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah by implementing independent control plans tailored to the high density of pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques, in order to guarantee food availability according to the highest safety and quality standards.

The SFDA reaffirms its commitment to ongoing control and inspection efforts across all branches and offices to ensure food establishments adhere to health standards and verify product safety throughout manufacturing, storage, and distribution, thereby enhancing food security and safety during the holy month of Ramadan.
