The SFDA Participated in the Sixth Meeting of the Technical Committees that belong to the (AHWP)

The SFDA, represented by its medical devices and products sector, participated in the sixth meeting of the technical committees that belong to the Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP) which was held in Hong Kong during the 25th to the 27th of April, 2007. During the meeting, the discussion of the (Common Submission Dossier Template) about the requirements of submitting medical devices and products among the participated countries, and the possibility of unifying them with the (Summary Technical Documentation) that belong to the Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF) were continued.
Moreover, the members continued the discussion of some important issues like: establishing an infrastructure to monitor the medical devices and products after marketing them among the participated countries, the mechanism of joining (Work Group 2) of the (GHTF), reviewing two training programs offered by a delegate of the American University, (South Eastern) and a delegate of Hong Kong University, whom are admitted by several international controlling authorities- it worth mentioning that the two programs aim to train the members of the group in field of monitoring medical devices and products- nominating two new members to the technical committees of the (AHWP) from the SFDA, one in the group of monitoring medical devices and products after marketing (WG2) and the other in the In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) which belong to the work group of before marketing (WG1).
The group of the SFDA visited the office of organizing and controlling medical devices that belong to the health department in Hong Kong to view the medical devices monitoring system and confirm their desire of cooperation.
The SFDA was represented by the head of the laboratories technology specialist Mr. Abdurrahman bin Saleh Algifari and the medical engineer mr. Waleed bin Saleh Attwigeri.

The Authority
