Bawazeer: The S.F.D.A System Adopts the Medicinal Policies in The Kingdom

D. Saleh Bawazeer the vice executive chairman of drugs affair in the S.F.D.A clarified that the new system of the S.F.D.A that has been issued recently includes and covers all the S.F.D.A duties such as: setting policies, developing, updating and suggesting regulations, control and inspection, setting specifications, standards, manufacturing basics and health conditions, offering technical advices, exchanging information, making researches and studies, establishing specialized centers of information and laboratories, and making international contacts. Moreover, the system gives the S.F.D.A the needed executive, regulatory and monitoring authority. He added that it designates the basic duties that relate to drug field as it ensure the quality, effectiveness and safety of drugs consumed by human and animal and safety of biological preparations, medical plants and cosmetics. In regard of the regulatory field, he stated that the system gives the S.F.D.A the authority of adopting and amending policies like the medicinal policies of the Kingdom, reviewing regulations and bylaws that relate to drugs, setting standard specifications for cosmetics, making training programs for drug field workers. The system enables the S.F.D.A to apply regulations related to drug field like the system of establishment and pharmaceutical preparations, thereby The S.F.D.A will be responsible of registering and authorizing drugs and pharmaceutical establishments, monitoring the circulation of pharmaceutical preparations with examining and analyzing drugs and cosmetics. D. Bawazeer stated that the system gives the S.F.D.A the authority of applying regulations and bylaws in regard of issuing licenses of pharmaceutical preparations factories, monitoring drugs, biological and medical preparations, cosmetics and herbs that have medical effects. He also added that the system includes transforming all regulatory, executive and monitoring duties and other responsibilities that relate to food and drug safety to the S.F.D.A. and the Board of Directors has given the authority of designating the stages by which the duties will be transformed.
