SFDA head, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Meshal that SFDA is working to support the private sector by creating flexible and easy systems for drugs and medical devices registration to stimulate investment in this field.

He said in a worksheet submitted at The American Saudi Business Opportunities Forum held in Riyadh, that SFDA work integrates with other agencies to provide superior care for patients, and is considered a key player in health care by providing and supporting the private sector in creating a flexible and easy systems for drugs and medical devices registration to stimulate investment in this area, in addition to supporting scientific medication research, and supporting and encouraging pharmaceutical companies to invest in the Kingdom through factories construction and to establish research centers, and to provide scientific and technical support to companies investing in the Kingdom, and to ensure the safety of medical equipment and supplies and its performance for the purpose that it made for and to follow their efficiency in health facilities.

He pointed out that SFDA is working to support the private sector by creating flexible and easy systems that stimulate investment in the field of drugs, by creating an electronic infrastructure that facilitates the registration of drugs and medical devices operations and follow-up, and ensure the homogeneity of SFDA systems with the developed countries systems e.g. America, Europe and Japan, with facilitating the procedures and regulations to create a competitive environment that will raise the level of the pharmaceutical industry in the Kingdom, and to provide incentives and facilities to drugs producers in order to build an effective drug safety system.

Dr. Al Meshal pointed out that SFDA is working to support drugs scientific research, and therefore clinical research management established to monitor and facilitate scientific research and clinical procedures in Saudi Arabia and to provide research advices to beneficiaries. SFDA is also working with other research institutions to establish a research center for pharmaceutical and registered cosmetics in the Kingdom for safety studies.

Dr. Meshal Said : "Because the research centers are involved to detects drugs they will be the main brick in pharmaceutical investment process, that's why SFDA has given this aspect much attention through scientific integration and coordination with international organizations and research centers and finding  flexible systems for issuing licenses and certificates."

He added that SFDA is keen to support companies investing in the Kingdom scientifically and technically, SFDA also provides to the staff of invested companies in Saudi Arabia all needed to work professionally and master the technical and professional courses, courses include a large number of disciplines needed for the company work starting from the foundations of a good pharmaceutical manufacturing and ending by monitoring drug safety after marketing, SFDA also provides courses in local regulations and laws related to registration and marketing of drugs.
