SFDA has participated in the First Makkah Pharmacological Conference by delivering several papers and establishment of a special exhibition stand in the medical exhibition that accompanied the conference, in addition of participation of several parties involved in drug industry, under the auspice of the General Manger of the Directorate of Health affairs in Makkah region, Dr. Khaled bin Ebeid Dhafr at Al Shohada’ Hotel in the Holy Capital, during the period 28-29/06/1432H , organized by Makkah Directorate for Health affairs
The topics discussed in this conference were focused on the technological advancements in the field of drug safety and updates of the international best practices of drug safety and security, analysis of drug errors, in addition to the strategies of handling drugs in emergency situations, engineering of human factor in drug safety as well as awareness of health care personnel and patients in order to avoid mistakes in drug uses.
The conference was attended by a group of consultant physicians, professional pharmacists from several participating entities including SFDA, Saudi Pharmacological Association, Faculty of Pharmacology of King Saud University, King Abdul Aziz University , Um Al Qura University, King Khaled University Hospital, Security Forces Hospital, King Abdul Aziz Medical City and several professional drug companies
It worth mentioning that SFDA strives continuously, through attending such conferences, forums and seminars, to enhance the safety, quality and efficacy of drugs and serve the citizens through its ongoing control and surveillance role.
