The activities of “Food Intoxication: A Waste of Health & Economy” Seminar were closed. This seminar was held under the auspice of HRH Prince Mansur bin Metib, Minister of Municipal & Rural Affairs and jointly organized by Madinah Municipality & SFDA, during the period 6-8/6/1432H in Madinah. The purpose of the Seminar was to shed light on the severe damages to the health and economy caused by food intoxication incidents and to enhance the capabilities of the concerned investigation responsibles and to emphasize on the importance of coordination of the efforts of the entities participating in the quadruple committee for investigation of food intoxication incidents
Engineer Saleh Qadi, acting Mayor of Madinah, opened the seminar in the presence of H.E. Deputy Minister of Municipal & Rural Affairs, Mr. Yousuf Al Saif and SFDA’s Vice President for Food Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saad Al Mehaizie, who presented the key paper in the opening ceremony of the event under the title “Food Intoxication Incidents and their impact on Health & Economy and the role of legislations & control”. The seminar was attended by a large number of employees from the Ministry of Municipal & Rural Affairs, Ministry of Health, SFDA and professionals in the field of Food Industries and Services.
The seminar was closed by producing a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: Importance of training of food services workers in professional training centers. training of people responsible for investigation of food intoxication incidents, standardization of forms and procedures, reporting about laboratory capabilities of the entities participating in the quadruple committee for investigation of food intoxication incidents, in conducting all tests related to investigation of food intoxication incidents, review and update of penalties guide of food intoxication incidents in view of a recent case study and to escalate these recommendations to HRH Minister of Municipal & Rural Affairs.
