SFDA Public Relations Department organized a lecture for SFDA employees, in cooperation with Saudi Diabetes Philanthropic Society, entitled: “ Health Awareness about Diabetes” delivered by M/S Hbbibah Ocheck on Tuesday 1/5/1432H. The lecture was accompanied with Blood Sugar Test activity in addition to provision of medical advice and consultations by professionals, related to diet, ideal weight and regular blood sugar tests for patients with diabetes in addition to distribution of awareness booklets and fliers.
The lecture was delivered in the presence of the chairman of the board of the Society, Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Hemaidi wherein the Society was appreciated by Mr. Mazin Al Ismail and a memorial shield was presented to the Society in addition to commendation of M/S Hbbibah in this event
M/S Hbbibah Ocheck warned that diabetes is spreading rapidly at the level of the Kingdom and Gulf Countries and highlighted obesity as one of the causes of diabetes while emphasized on the importance of periodical blood sugar tests and checking with the doctor in case of high blood sugar. She attributed the causes of diabetes to shortage in insulin production by the pancreas and pointed out that the disease is not contagious and may have some hereditary relationships. Ignoring diabetes may result in kidney failure, clots and vascular blockage
It worth mentioning that the Saudi Diabetes Philanthropic Society aims to raise health awareness about diabetes and to contribute to the enhancement of medical services and support to scientific and philanthropic activities for protection and treatment of diabetic patients, as well as provision of psychological, social, tangible and intangible support to the needy patients, in addition to organization of several programs and events, distribution of booklets and fliers and issuing books about diabetes and how to live with it.
