SFDA Joins International Medication Safety Network

Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has recently joined the International Medication Safety Network (IMSN) after meeting all requirements and standards necessary to receive the network's membership.
The role of the network, which comprises 24 global monitoring organizations and institutions, lies in ensuring commitment to reducing medical errors, encouraging and going on to develop medication safety center in all member states, and facilitating cooperation.
This membership is important to enhance and support the monitoring efforts of the authority in terms of the safety of medicinal products through developing and building capacity and enhancing their efficiency in medication safety, and developing guidelines for pharmaceutical companies and factories to name and form medicines, in addition to highlighting its efforts in this field at the international level.
This membership also helps get acquainted with global developments related to medication safety and discusses them in a constant way through attending the annual meeting of the network and using the online forum of the network.
The authority can take advantage of this membership through the ongoing communication of the network with international and public commissions concerned with medication safety, as part of the authority's permanent endeavors to carry out its monitoring role and perform its responsibilities in enhance public health, ensure the safety of medicines in the Saudi market and enhance its role as a pioneering monitoring institution in the field of medication safety.
