The Saudi Halal Center continues to provide its services to companies wishing to obtain the halal certificate and mark, and to market their products with a reliable and attractive Saudi mark in order for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be a major and reliable reference for halal food and products at the local, regional and global levels.
The number of food establishments that have obtained the certificate of the Saudi Halal Center since 2019 until now has reached (198) facilities, and (75) establishments have obtained the certificate of issuing halal certificates and marks in (43) countries around the world, and the issuance of halal dispatch certificates has reached more than 59,000 Certificate.
The Saudi Halal Center is working on 13 initiatives in partnership with the relevant authorities, which contribute to consolidating the leadership of the Kingdom and its references in halal economies, including the global halal platform, the initiative to support local enterprises by granting them a halal certificate, and the development of the monitoring mechanism for certificate awarding bodies appointed by the center. This aims at raising the level of control over facilities exported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The center also signed several agreements with Saudi universities to conduct research and development for halal, and to qualify human cadres in the halal sector around the world.
Among the Center's initiatives is also a plan for mutual recognition of halal certificates for exported local products, which comes from the standpoint of developing cooperation in the field of mutual recognition of halal certificates for exported local products, and aims to develop the exchange of experiences and knowledge in the field of training, research and laboratory analysis of halal products.
The first agreement in this field was signed with the Moroccan side, represented by the Moroccan Standardization Institute of the Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade, Green and Digital Economy, during the visit in which the Saudi Food and Drug Authority participated. The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to visit the Kingdom of Morocco was headed by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi. The delegation included a number of officials from 14 government agencies, and representatives of the private sector from 62 Saudi companies.
The agreement aims to enhance and develop cooperation in the field of mutual recognition of halal certificates for local products in Saudi Arabia and Morocco, the development of conformity assessment procedures, standard specifications and technical regulations for the issuance of halal certificates, and the mutual recognition of halal certificates issued by the Saudi Halal Center and the Moroccan Institute for Standardization in the Ministry of Industry and Trade for local products exported between the two countries. It also aims to exchanging experiences and knowledge in the field of training, research and laboratory analysis of halal products.
The certificates granted by the center, which is one of the initiatives of the National Transformation Program of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, contribute to facilitating import and export procedures through the Halal mark, which is a requirement in a number of Islamic countries. It also contributes to marketing products externally and enabling local companies to expand in local markets.
The Saudi Halal Center also works to grant halal certificates to establishments and entities, cooperate in conducting specialized research to develop control over halal products, and provide training programs specialized in halal, in addition to appointing external halal certificate awarding bodies.
