SFDA, SABIC Co-organize Workshop to Support Innovators of Medical Devices and Supplies

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), in cooperation with the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), organized a workshop to discuss the strategy to support innovators in the field of medical devices and supplies 2023 in Riyadh, as part of the SABIC's "Nusaned" initiative.
The workshop aimed to explain the role of the Authority in supporting the field of innovation, local manufacturing and clinical studies in medical devices. It also aimed at explaining the initiatives SFDA undertakes in the field of innovative medical devices based on the importance of innovation and the localization of the medical devices and supplies industry.
At the opening of the workshop, Vice President of the Medical Devices and Supplies Sector at SFDA, Eng. Ali bin Mohsen Al-Dalaan, stressed the importance of innovation in the field of medical devices and supplies, and the need to contain and support inventors and innovators. He indicated that the Authority is keen to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 regarding medical devices and supplies, the localization of the industry in this field, and its role in achieving integration and harmonization with other relevant government agencies.
For his part, General Manager of Technology Marketing and Localization at SABIC, Eng. Adel Sanad, explained that the “Nusaned” initiative aims to contain and guide inventors and innovators in the field of industry and technology who are ready to open a licensed factory, with the participation of governmental and non-governmental agencies. He indicated that obtaining the initiative support is through applying on platforms dedicated to this purpose, through which the application is evaluated and accepted, and a training program is held to support the applicant.
