2025-04-25

In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) presented an awareness lecture titled "Safe Use of Public Health Pesticides." This informative session was a key part of Environment Week 2025, an initiative by the Ministry themed "Our Environment is a Treasure."

Held at the Exhibition Center in Riyadh, the lecture delved into the fundamental aspects of pesticides. It covered their definition and crucial role in controlling public health pests, while also addressing the risks associated with their improper use and their impact on human, animal, and environmental well-being.

The engaging presentation provided practical guidelines for the safe handling of pesticides. These guidelines ranged from recommending proper purchasing methods to outlining the correct procedures for application and storage. The lecture also underscored the primary reasons for poisoning incidents stemming from incorrect practices.

The SFDA emphasized that the participation in this significant event reflects the continuous dedication to raising public awareness and fostering safe practices that contribute to environmental protection and long-term sustainability. It further stressed the necessity of collaboration among all relevant parties to safeguard biodiversity, recognizing it as a collective national duty.
