The SFDA and Jordan FDA Sign MoU to Enhance Regulatory Integration

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Amman. The agreement aims to enhance regulatory integration between the two sides.
The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, CEO of the SFDA, H.E. Dr. Nizar Mheidat, Director General of the JFDA, and Mr. Mohammed bin Hassan Mounis, Acting Chargé d’Affaires at the Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in Jordan.
This MoU strengthens the deep historical ties between Saudi Arabia and Jordan, reflecting a shared commitment to establishing a harmonized regulatory framework that can keep pace with rapid developments in the food and drug sectors.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two authorities in areas related to food and drug regulation. This includes exchanging, supporting, and developing legislation, technical regulations, and standards, as well as sharing expertise in registration procedures and scientific product evaluation. Ultimately, this will contribute to enhanced regulatory efficiency and the adoption of good regulatory practices.
During the meeting, both authorities emphasized the importance of aligning regulatory efforts with international standards and advancing them through sustainable institutional partnerships. They affirmed that this Saudi-Jordanian partnership is a key pillar in achieving more effective and impactful regional regulatory integration.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward building a unified regional regulatory ecosystem that supports public health and safety. By fostering the exchange of knowledge and best practices, the MoU is expected to drive continuous improvement in regulatory standards, streamline procedures, and contribute to the availability of safe, high-quality products in both countries and beyond.
