The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), at its headquarters in Riyadh, will host the activities of the 7th "Gulf Food Week" during the period from March 27 to March 31, 2022, in cooperation and coordination with GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) and Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO).
According to international statistics, a person visits emergency every three minutes due to food allergy, and one of the national studies conducted by the National Nutrition Committee at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA, in cooperation with Taibah University, indicates that 21% of the population of the Kingdom suffers from food allergy, and symptoms range from mild to severe, which may lead to death.
The Regional Coordinator for the Near East Countries in Codex Alimentarius Commission (CODEX), Khaled Al-Zahrani, reviewed the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) experience in leading the region to enhance the participation of its countries at the level of Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex).
