SFDA Imposed Temporary Ban on Fresh Vegetables Imports from EU:

In continuation of SFDA role of control of food and medicine and follow-up of all developments and updates of the spread of (E-Coli) (EHEC) in Germany and other EU countries. Despite the food source of this infection is not yet identified, there are some indications that the infection maybe caused by some kind of fresh vegetables and seedling (Sprouts) used in canned Salad.
Whereas, SFDA is responsible for control of imported food and in line with it’s supervisory role according to (SPS) Agreement and upon coordination with Ministry of Agriculture, SFDA issued Resolution No. (95 / 32 / G R) dated 6 / 7 / 1432 H, imposing temporary ban on import of products such as fresh vegetables and fresh Salad from EU countries , as a precautionary measure to ensure consumer health and safety.
SFDA would like to assure consumers that it is following up developments and updates of this matter to guarantee that no contaminated products are imported to the Kingdom.
