The SFDA Intensifies Warehouse Oversight as Part of Comprehensive Plan for Hajj 2025

2025-05-24

As part of its comprehensive preparations for the Hajj season 2025, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has intensified its proactive inspection efforts, conducting over 1,329 field visits to food, pharmaceutical, and medical device warehouses in the Makkah and Madinah regions. This aligns with the remarkable compliance rates observed in facilities storing food and medicine, a direct result of ongoing inspections and awareness-raising efforts that have reinforced their commitment to the requirements.

During these visits, SFDA inspection teams identified several warehouses that were not in compliance with approved technical requirements. As a result, 44 non-compliant warehouses were closed, and 349 violations were recorded. Appropriate regulatory actions were taken against the violators.

In line with its commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of products during the Hajj season, the SFDA has launched a multilingual awareness campaign. The campaign provides establishments with awareness materials outlining key regulatory requirements for handling products, with the aim of enhancing compliance and ensuring product safety for pilgrims.

The SFDA plays a pivotal role during the Hajj season in strengthening regulatory compliance, safeguarding product integrity at the holy sites, and minimizing potential health risks to pilgrims.
