HRH Prince Mansur bin Metib, Minister of Rural & Municipal Affairs expressed his appreciation of SFDA’s significant role and effort in realization of safety of food and security of drug in the Kingdom. HRH has also admired the rapid growth and development in the field of control of food and drug, thus keeping pace with reputed FDA’s worldwide and bringing benefit to the nation and citizens by improving the public health in the Kingdom.

  Saudi Food & Drug Authority has organized a meeting between Food & Drug Sectors executives and the delegation oo the Chinese Quality Certificates Center . H.E. SFDA Vice President for Food Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al Mehaizie briefed the Chinese delegation on SFDA in general, and Food Sector ,in particular. Also, H.E. SFDA Vice President for Drug Affairs, Dr. Saleh Bawazir gave a briefing about Drug Sector , especially in the field of Cosmetic products.

In view of SFDA’s role of control of food and assurance of food safety. And; based on OIE reports dated 12/12/2011 and 23/12/2011 and websites and newspapers topics about H5N1 epidemic revert in China and Hong Kong.

زار صاحب السمو الملكي الامير عبدالرحمن بن ناصر ال سعود محافظ الخرج الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء حيث كان في استقبال سموه معالي الرئيس التنفيذي للهيئة الدكتور محمد بن احمد الكنهل، واطلع سموه على قطاعات الهيئة ونشاطاتها وأهدافها، والمهمات الإجرائية والتنفيذية والرقابية التي تقوم بها الهيئة لضمان سلامة الغذاء والدواء، وسلامة المستحضرات الحيوية والكيماوية، وكذلك المنتجات الإلكترونية التي تمس صحة الإنسان سواء على مستوى الغذاء و الدواء أوالأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية.

Within the framework of cosmetics monitoring program, SFDA collected and analyzed several samples of facial makeup products of different trademarks to ensure that they are free from heavy metals and bacterial contamination

Analysis proved that three of the samples are contaminated with high percentage of lead, exceeding the allowed limit in GSO 1943/2009 Standard Specifications. SFDA addressed the concerned authorities in order to recall these products from the markets and ban their entry to the Kingdom.
