SFDA Participates in the 3rd. Occupation Day Anniversary

SFDA has signed an agreement with Intertek International Limited, UK and SGS Société Générale de Surveillance S.A, Switzerland for assessment and verification of compliance of cosmetic products. The two companies will assess and verify compliance of cosmetic products that will be exported to the Kingdom’s markets, in accordance with the regulations, rules, specifications and conditions approved by SFDA. The two companies shall test or analyze any cosmetic product in an accredited international laboratory or laboratories, selected in agreement with SFDA.
SFDA, represented by Food Sector, is hosting the food expert, Dr. Hamdi Ahmed, Director of Meat Researches Laboratory , University of Arizona, Tusan USA, to participate in the revision of the work plan of the study entitled:“ Assessment of Spread of Key Disease –Causing Microbes Carried by Food in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”, that will be conducted by Food Sector.
Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) has recently compelled transporters of drug, pharmaceutical , herbal and veterinary products to transport drugs in refrigerated containers equipped with temperature indicators to reflect storage and drug shipment conditions during transportation. This comes in SFDA efforts to adopt the best drug storage and distribution practices.
SFDA Public Relations Department organized a lecture for SFDA employees, in cooperation with Saudi Diabetes Philanthropic Society, entitled: “ Health Awareness about Diabetes” delivered by M/S Hbbibah Ocheck on Tuesday 1/5/1432H. The lecture was accompanied with Blood Sugar Test activity in addition to provision of medical advice and consultations by professionals, related to diet, ideal weight and regular blood sugar tests for patients with diabetes in addition to distribution of awareness booklets and fliers.
Following the news about nuclear pollution of Japanese food products, and based on the news released by INFOSAN, Japanese Government and EU represented by RASFF; and UNFDA. SFDA imposed further controls and restrictions on these products to ensure the highest degree of safety and security of food & feed imports from Japan, as follows:
SFDA participated in the “Mother & Baby Exhibition” held during the period 6-8/5/1432H in Al Khobar, East Region. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammed Al Abdullah, advisor to the Supreme Commission for Tourism, East Region.
