What is the electronic feed system( AFNR )?
AFNR is an electronic system aims to register and build up database for all Feed establishment and its products in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
What are the main differences between the types of feed?
- Raw feed :
Ingredients : It contains only one substance and has specific and authorized lists that can be referenced through Saudi Standard No. SFDA.FD.41 in addition to the lists of raw feed in the Feed Products Registration Guide
Method of use : It is allow using directly in the field
- Feed additives
Ingredients : It contains only one substance and has specific and authorized lists that can be referenced through Saudi Standard No. SFDA.FD.41 in addition to the lists of raw feed in the Feed Products Registration Guide
Method of use : It is allow using directly in the field ، It is allow using in factories
- Premix
Ingredients : It contains more than one of the allowed feed additives, or it may be a mixture of the allowed feed additives and raw feed
Method of use : It is allow using directly in the field if it is mixed with water or fodder, if the method of use is applicable, especially for mixtures destined for traditional breeding animals (camels - sheep - goats) in order to ensure that the product is use in a correct manner, It is allow using in factories
- Compound feed
Ingredients : Contains a mixture of permitted feed additives and raw feed
Method of use : Provides animal directly without mixing with water or feed

What are the feed Contaminants?
Contaminants; Are the materials or compounds which causes Feed contamination; either Chemicals (ex: heavy metals, Dioxin and Pesticides), Or Physical (ex: Foreign bodies or insects) Or Microbial (ex: Salmonella and Escherichia coli), Or Mycotoxins and others.
What are the requirements of the scientific file for feed?
The scientific file must contain the following information:
- Safety studies in addition to be registered
- Safety studies on workers and users of the additives.
- Environmental safety studies
- Study of the natural and chemical stability of the product according to the product's validity
What is novel feeds?
Novel feeds are feeds composed of or derived from microorganisms, plants, or animal sources that are not approved as feed in SFDA and/or contain a novel trait
