Responsibilities:

The Department shall be responsible for controlling, regulating, licensing, and monitoring the manufacture, import, export, distribution, marketing, advertising and evaluation of pesticides, and the establishment of their requirements, whether locally manufactured or imported, in accordance with the registration regulations approved by the Authority. This includes ensuring their safety, quality and effectiveness, monitoring their adverse effects, and measuring their residuals through the application of a national monitoring system consistent with international best practices and sensitizing all segments of society to prevent poisoning.



Tasks:



  • Registration of pesticides and active substances
  • Prohibition and restriction of pesticides and active substances and the preparation and updating of their lists
  • Issuing the registration certificate for pesticides and active substances
  • Licensing pesticides and active substances
  • Issuing a certificate of licenses for pesticides and active substances
  • Registration of pesticide facilities
  • Building a database of pesticides and their installations in an electronic program for the National Pesticide Register
  • Evaluation and licensing of pesticide facilities
  • Issuing import, clearance and export permissions
  • Carrying out inspections of establishments for the purpose of licensing
  • Control and inspection of local and imported pesticide facilities and products
  • Application of fines and penalties against violators
  • Monitor and study the side effects and harmful incidents resulting from the use of pesticides on humans and the environment.
  • Participate in developing and updating the maximum requirements for pesticides in food
  • Evaluate the safety, safety, quality and effectiveness of pesticides.
  • Preparation of studies and statistics on the safety of pesticide use.
