The Vice President of Food Affairs in the SFDA Visited the USA with a Delegation Belong to Food Safety Committee in the GCC

Responding to the invitation of the American Agriculture Ministry, his Excellency the vice executive president of food affairs in the SFDA Dr. Ibraheem bin Saad Almuhaize, has visited the USA with a delegation belongs to the GCC Committee of Food Safety from 3-10\6\1429H, that equals 7-14\6\2008, in order to meet officials in the Ministry and the FDA in charge of monitoring food to discuss several mutual issues between the GCC and the USA in regard of food safety and monitoring imported food.
The program included a lecture about food sector in the KSA; as Dr. Ibraheem bin Saad Almuhaize, the vice executive president of food affair, presented a show about producing and manufacturing food in the Kingdom and introduced food sector of the SFDA and its responsibilities. The Administration of Food Safety and Inspection Services on Health of Animals and Plants in the American Agriculture Ministry and the FDA presented roles done to insure food safety. Discussions continued between the two parts including common subjects related to safety of different kinds of food imported to GCC from USA.
The program also included meeting number of private authorities work in field of food manufacturing; through which light has been shed on the relation between them and the
monitoring authorities regarding food safety in the USA.
Several field visits were included within the program; yet, the most important one was to the Port of Baltimore to view the procedures and techniques followed to admit imported food.
