D. David Jukes, an international food laws expert and a professor of food law in Reading University, examined the Saudi food law draft with the officials of the SFDA to ratify its final version before submitting it to specialized authorities.
D. Mohammed bin Ahmed Alkanhal, the acting executive president of the SFDA, clarified that d. David Jukes visited the Kingdom according to an invitation from the SFDA to reflect the common cooperation with the UN developmental program. D. Jukes reviewed the Saudi food law draft with some specialists from food sector in the SFDA, and it was confirmed that the Saudi law coincides with world standard specifications and world food laws especially with the commercial partners of the Kingdom.
D. Alkanhal mentioned that the system is being reviewed by a consultant legal firm to assure that it goes with the Islamic laws and local legislations, and it will be finished soon.
D. Alkanhal stated that some procedures are being arranged recently in order to make a workshop with governmental and private authorities and parts concerning with food including consumers, to get benefit from their visions and comments before submitting the law draft to specialized authorities in order to approve it.
