D. alkanhal: Monitoring Food Sector Foreign Workers is a Big Challenge to the SFDA

D. Mohammed bin Ahmed Alkanhal the executive acting president of the SFDA stated that the survey of monitoring food sector foreign workers revealed that it is a big challenge to the SFDA since several organizations are carrying out this duty and food laboratories of land borders need reframing.
He added in a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh that the SFDA is working at setting a Saudi food system and a national comprehensive program to monitor
He stated too that the SFDA has a transparent, integrative methodology and it is concerned with the participation of other relative authorities to set regulations and laws. He confirmed that the SFDA will not deal with a plant or an importer as an opponent however they will cooperate to spread awareness while contraveners will be punished.
D. Alkanhal reviewed the SFDA objectives such as: insuring the safety of human and animal food and drug, making researches and monitoring regulations and procedures of licensing plants and factories of drugs, food and medical devices. He stated too that the main sectors of the SFDA are food, drug and medical devices sectors.
On his part, his Excellency d. Ibraheem bin Saad Almuhaize , the vice executive president of food affairs, shed light on the strategic basics of food sector like the rules of setting food monitoring regulations, elements of controlling food market, communication, and training.
In addition, his Excellency d. Saleh bin Abdullah Bawazeer, the vice president of drug affairs, reviewed the strategic basics of drug sector by discussing the monitoring regulations of before and after marketing, elements of communication, education and training. He also confirmed that the SFDA tends to designate land borders where drugs are admitted and pharmacists check them.
In respect of medical devices, his Excellency d. Saleh bin Sulaiman Attayar, the general director of medical devices and products sector, stated that the volume of medical devices and products market in the Kingdom is approximately six billion riyal and he added that studies show that there are no regulations and authorities to monitor medical products.
Regarding the abilities sector, his Excellency d. Saad bin Uthman Alkasabi, the general director of information technology- the acting general director of administrative and financial affairs, focused on the importance of utilizing new technology in order to serve the objectives of the SFDA and giving SFDA employees training courses to enrich their abilities. He also pointed at the high administration concern that seeks creating an electronic environment by which the applications of the electronic government can be started.

The Authority
