In cooperation with the SFDA, King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital organizes the annual sixth symposium for health education entitled: "Health Education for Consumer Protection, Where is the Path?" from 11-12 of Rabee Athani, 1430H, 7-8 of April, 2009, in the hospital headquarter, within the program of continuous learning which is adopted by the hospital, aiming to focus on the concept of consumer protection in health cases as well as its importance, raising the employees qualification scientifically and professionally to activate their efforts in order to accomplish

Since revealing facts is the mission of the SFDA, it likes to point out to reports of environmental and health organizations in the USA and some Asian countries which included warnings toward numbers of children care products as they contain residues of 1,4-Dioxane and formaldehyde in different rates; which considered cancerous compounds.

شاركت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء متمثلة في قطاع الغذاء في ورشة عمل "تحليل المخاطر" في مدينة أبو ظبي بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة والمنعقدة خلال الفترة من 16-17/5/1430هـ الموافق 11-12/5/2009م , كما شاركت الهيئة في تنظيم ورشة العمل مع الأمانة العامة لدول مجلس التعاون الخليجي وجهاز أبو ظبي للرقابة الغذائية.

ويشارك في هذه الورشة علاوة على لجنة سلامة الأغذية لدول مجلس التعاون مجموعة من المختصين في مجال سلامة الأغذية من دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي كما دُعي إليها نخبة من الخبراء العالميين في مجال تحليل المخاطر الغذائية بالإضافة لممثلين من قبل قطاع الغذاء بالهيئة .

شاركت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء في فعاليات الاجتماع الاستثنائي للجنة سلامة الأغذية لدول مجلس التعاون الخليج العربية والذي انطلق صباح اليوم الثلاثاء 9 / 6 /1430هـ الموافق 2 / 6 /2009م بمدينة الدوحة بدولة قطر الشقيقة. و مثل الهيئة في هذا الاجتماع سعادة نائب الرئيس التنفيذي لشؤون الغذاء أ.د إبراهيم بن سعد المهيزع وعدد من المسئولين بالقطاع، ويستمر هذا الاجتماع لمدة يومين بمشاركة ممثلين من جميع دول مجلس التعاون وممثلين عن الأمانة العامة لمجلس التعاون الخليجي حيث سيناقش الاجتماع الأهداف الأساسية للجنة سلامة الأغذية وتقييم أدائها وإنجازاتها خلال السنوات الماضية.

أطلقت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء برنامج التثقيف الدوائي في دورته الثالثة حول أدوية الرشاقة ومستحضرات التجميل, و الذي تنظمه الهيئة ممثلة في قطاع الدواء, وذلك بهدف التحذير من مستحضرات الرشاقة و تخفيف الوزن ومستحضرات التجميل, بالإضافة إلى رفع مستوى التثقيف الصحي وتوعية المواطنين بالمواضيع المتعلقة بالدواء.

The Britain FSA (Food Standards Agency) declared the results of its exploratory study which aimed to discover the source of protein used in some powders that are added to poultry to retain water and improve the succulence of the meet (make meet juicy and tasty); the existence of protein should be listed on the label of the product. Results revealed that the kind of protein existed in some samples differs than what is written on labels, as the samples contain pork and beef proteins not only chicken protein.

The SFDA revealed its new regulation which aims to precisely control medical devices, and insures that it will license the importing companies after 60 days. According to the Executive Vice President of the SFDA Medical Devices Sector Dr. Saleh Attayar, nine land borders have been designated to import medical devices to the Kingdom and supported with employees from the SFDA to insure safety and conformity of these devices to medical and technical provisions of the regulation. تعقد الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء ممثلة بقطاع الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية ثلاث ورش عمل في كل من الرياض وجدة والدمام، وذلك لتعريف شركات ومؤسسات الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية بلائحة رقابة الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية التي تم اعتمادها من قبل مجلس إدارة الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء وقواعدها الإجرائية المكملة لها وتوضيح اشتراطات الهيئة فيما يخص مسؤوليات شركات ومؤسسات الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية تجاه الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية منذ توريدها إلى تكهينها.

تعلن الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء عن نقل مهام الرقابة على الأدوية من وزارة الصحة إلى الهيئة, وذلك اعتباراً من يوم الأربعاء القادم 15/7/1430هـ الموافق 8/7/2009م.
حيث أوضح نائب الرئيس التنفيذي لشؤون الدواء بالهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء الأستاذ الدكتور صالح بن عبدالله باوزير أن ذلك تنفيذًا لما قضى به نظام الهيئة العامة للغذاء و الدواء و الذي يتضمن نقل جميع المهمات التنظيمية و التنفيذية و الرقابية المتعلقة بالأدوية إلى الهيئة.

The SFDA has signed a dealing memorandum with King Abdulaziz City for Sciences and Technology to organize and activate the part work and cooperation between the two authorities, as they have the same high technical and researching basis as well as having several common activities and fields of collaboration. Some activities of part work between the two authorities have been substantially put into effect before signing the dealing memorandum.
