Import Ban on Chicks and Hatching Eggs in Suffolk

The Saudi Ministry of Agriculture issued a decree which imposes a temporary import ban on chicks and hatching eggs from Suffolk, UK as a precautionary measure against Avian Flue outbreak. This came after a weekly report (20th Edition/ Feb 2.2007) published by OIE (World Organization of Animal Health) pointing out an outbreak of severe strain of the virus at poultry farm in Suffolk, UK. The mortality rate of infected poultry was 35.7%.
