SFDA Warns about Al Rai Factory Potable Water

Within the efforts exerted by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) and pursuant to its role of monitoring and control of all matters related to the safety of the products lying under its responsibility. And, pursuant to the Royal directions to SFDA to ensure that all potable water plants comply with the revised Saudi Specifications No. (409/2000). And, in continuation of SFDA’s mission of auditing and control of potable water plants in order to ensure their compliance with the above referenced Saudi Specifications, it is found , according to analysis results, that Al Rai Potable Water Product of Al Hassa has exceeded the maximum permissible limit of bromide

Accordingly, SFDA warns consumers not to use this water and dispose of any stock they may have of this brand in order to maintain safety of their health. Moreover, SFDA has addressed Al Hassa Province Municipality in order to take the necessary action to stop the said factory from production and urge it to recall its product from the market until this situation is rectified, and make sure that it complies with the above Standard Specifications> SFDA has also addressed Consumer Affairs Department of the Deputy Ministry of Industry in this regard.
SFDA is continuing to check and audit all potable water plants to make sure that they comply with the maximum permissible limit of bromide and that necessary actions will be taken against violating plants.
