SFDA Lifts Temporary Banning of Fresh Vegetables Imports from Federal Republic of Germany

In continuation of its role of tracking and follow up of the latest news and updates of EHEC Bacteria accidents in Federal Republic of Germany and several EU States. And; upon reviewing the reports received from the International Food Safety Network (INFOSAN), EU Commission and Control Bodies in Federal Republic of Germany, referring to imported fenugreek seeds from outside EU States may be the source of this problem and that, to date. no evidence is found to link this problem to fresh vegetables.
Therefore, in view of its control role, SPS agreement and in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, SFDA issued its decree No. 140/.32 dated 21/9/1432H, lifting temporary banning of fresh vegetables imports, e.g. ready fresh salad, from Federal Republic of Germany. SFDA confirms that it will continue to follow up all updates in this respect.
