SFDA Monitors 118 Violations During 2,014 Inspection Tours in July

Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) monitored 118 violations in facilities under its supervision, during 2,014 inspection tours in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in July this year.
SFDA stated that it carried out 1,016 inspection tours to food facilities, 121 to pesticides and feed facilities, and 485 to pharmaceutical facilities and medical devices, in addition to routine visits and smart inspections.
The Authority indicated that it closed 18 facilities for not obtaining a license or for the reasons related to the safety of the product. It also fined 22 facilities for carrying out the activity without a license, in addition to destroying 10,811 packages.
SFDA carried out 751 monitoring and investigation tours to investigate unknown warehouses, violating products, unlicensed facilities and warehouses, and track and trace advertisements, electronic accounts and their owners, in addition to tracking product sources.
It also indicated that the number of consignments received through the ports reached 25,116 consignments for 106,721 products.
SFDA carries out monitoring campaigns and periodic inspection tours of the facilities under its supervision in cooperation with the relevant authorities, to verify their compliance with the requirements of technical regulations and approved food specifications.
