The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced that it has moved closer to identifying the source of illness for the Taco John E.coli outbreak. FDA and the state of California, working in conjunction with state health officials in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, have DNA-matched the strain of E.coli0157:H7 bacteria associated with the outbreak with tow environmental samples gathered from dairy farms near a lettuce growing area in California's Central Valley.

The Food Standards Agency has been informed that Soleco UK Ltd has withdrawn watercress products, including watercress and spinach, and watercress and rocket mixed salad, from sale at branches of Budgens, Co-op, and a number of convenience stores, because of possible salmonella contamination.

Product testing by several states has now confirmed that Peter Pan peanut butter and certain Great Value brand peanut butter are the sources of the foodborne illness outbreak of Salmonella Tennessee that began in August 2006. To date 329 individuals have become ill from consuming the contaminated peanut butter, and 51 of those persons were hospitalized.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Los Angeles, CA -- February 23, 2007 – Castle Produce, a subsidiary of Tropical Produce, Inc., a wholesale importer of fresh fruit and vegetables announced the recall of cantaloupes in California due to potential health concerns. Some cantaloupes delivered on or after 2/16/2007 have tested positive for Salmonella, although no illnesses have been reported.

The Saudi Ministry of Agriculture issued a decree which imposes a temporary import ban on chicks and hatching eggs from Suffolk, UK as a precautionary measure against Avian Flue outbreak. This came after a weekly report (20th Edition/ Feb 2.2007) published by OIE (World Organization of Animal Health) pointing out an outbreak of severe strain of the virus at poultry farm in Suffolk, UK. The mortality rate of infected poultry was 35.7%.

The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced that a number of products used in the production of Dole Baby Spinach were recalled because they might be associated with E.coli 0157:H7 outbreak. The recall included all lots with product codes starting with P or J, with the next three digits lower than ''257'' (0-256).

The list of products affected by the recall is very long. Therefore, consumers should not purchase any of these products and those who have them should discard them.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers not to buy or eat three red yeast rice products promoted and sold on Web sites. The products may contain an unauthorized substance that could be harmful to health

قامت هيئة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية (FDA) بإجراء الاختبارات المخبرية على عينات جمعتها من الفلفل الأخضر نوع سيرانو (Serrano) ومن مياه الري من مزرعة بولاية نيفولون بالمكسيك، وأظهرت النتائج احتوائها على ميكروب السالمونيلا من نوع سانت بول تشابه بصمتها الوراثية مع نوع البكتريا التي سببت الحوادث في الولايات المتحدة الامريكية .
وقد نصحت الهيئة الأمريكية المستهلكين بتجنب استهلاك الفلفل الأخضر سيرانو الطازج (Serrano) من المكسيك بالإضافة إلي الفلفل الأخضر هالوبينا الطازج (jalapeño) أو أي أغذية تحتوي عليها .

حذرت الإدارة العامة للصحة بولاية كاليفورنيا بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية المواطنين من عدم تناول منتجين هما:
1. شوكلاتة نوع سابور (Sabor chocolate products) والمنتجة بالمكسيك وذلك بسبب إحتواء المنتج على نسبة عالية من معدن الرصاص ( 0.20 جزء في المليون ) وهذه النسبة أعلى من النسبة المسموح بها كحد أعلى ( 0.10 جزء في المليون ) حسب المواصفات الأمريكية.
