SFDA placed a number of recommendations and solutions to prevent irregularities in the subsistence kitchens in Makkah, and food facilities within the scope of Makkah and Medina.
SFDA hosted recently, the twenty-third meeting of the Committee on Food Safety in Gulf Countries, and the second preparatory meeting of the Committee, in Jeddah, in the presence of representatives Commission Members.
SFDA Rejected more than 6536 Tons of imported food stuff during the first three months of the current year due to non-compliance to the approved specifications and standards of chemical, microbial , physical or mandatory labeling information or banning importation of the same.
SFDA organized a meeting with Alternative Breast Milk Companies & their Agents in the Kingdom in SFDA’s Head Office to discuss pricing. The meeting was attended by H.E. SFDA Vice President for Food Sector, Dr. Salah Almiman, H.E. Vice President for Drug Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Al Jufali and H.E. The Executive Director for Vigilance & Crisis Management Department, Dr. Adel Al Harf.
SFDA’s executive department of local markets control captured expired food stuff, mixed with fake materials in some food storing and distribution organization; in addition to capturing other food stuff stored under the direct sun rays.
The SFDA Food Sector launched two overnight programs conducted during the period from 25 Thu Al Hejah 1434 AH (30 Oct 2013) to 15 Muharam 1435 (18 Nov 2013) in two major Riyadh shopping malls (Granada Mall and Al Othaim Mall).
SFDA, represented by Food Sector, intends to organize a training workshop for operation of the Electronic Clearance of Imported Food (Pilot phase) at the Imported Food Inspection Centers at King Abdul Aziz Sea Port in Dammam and Al Batha point of entry. The purpose of the workshop is to explain the procedures and identify the conditions and requirements of the electronic systems.

SFDA, represented by Food Sector- “Surveillance & Protection from Food- Carried Diseases Center” , organized a workshop for food- carried diseases survey supervisors to train them on the procedures and mechanisms provided in the survey manual of food-carried diseases, approved by the quatrain committee for investigation of food intoxication accidents. The workshop was held with participants form Ministry of Health and Ministry of Municipal & Rural Affairs to train their supervisors on the said survey procedures.
SFDA, represented by Food Sector- Executive Department for Communication &Awareness- organized a knowledge awareness project on how to deal with food to ensure that it is free from contamination with microbes. The project was launched in both cities of Jizzan ( Al Rashid Mall , 8-9/5/1434) and Jeddah ( Red Sea Mall 12-13/5/1434 & Haifa Mall , 15-16/5/1434).
