“SFDA” Warns Against 5 Perfumes due to Contain High Levels of “Methanol”

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has warned of 5 perfumes due to contain high levels of (Methanol), which exceeded allowable limits according to the safety requirements of cosmetics and personal care products NO. SFDA.CO/GSO 1943:2016.
Noting, exposure to high levels of (Methanol) can cause health risks to the consumers.
Methanol considered highly toxic, and it has effects on the nervous system including headache, dizziness, as well as irritation of the respiratory system, skin and eyes.
The first perfume is “pomegranate musk”, having expiry date 07/03/2022, while the second perfume is “Body Fragrance Sama”, with expiry date 08/03/2022 and third perfume is “the Gold Oud Fragrance” with expiry date 13/07/2023.
The SFDA also warned about the “Oud Lover Fragrance” having expiry date 06/13/2023, and “A sense of Freshener” with expiry date 07/03/2023.
The SFDA advises consumers to avoid using the mentioned products and dispose any sample they may have, emphasizing the importance of purchasing products from reliable sources.
The SFDA has taken the necessary actions in cooperation with specialized authorities in order to follow up the recall of products from the markets, and take the formal steps against violators.
