SFDA: Awareness Pavilions and Messages in Nine Languages During Hajj Season 1445 AH

2024-06-02

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is holding awareness pavilions focused on food, medicine, and medical devices for pilgrims at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. These pavilions will remain open until 8 Dhu al-Hijjah as part of the SFDA's activities in the Hajj season of 1445 AH.

The SFDA also delivers awareness messages in nine of the languages most widely spoken among pilgrims. These messages include information and advice to ensure product safety and are distributed through gifts equipped with barcodes for easy access.

Within its efforts during the Hajj season, the SFDA is raising level of awareness among workers in catering kitchens by providing general guidance on personal hygiene, proper practices to prevent food poisoning, identifying signs of meat spoilage, and safe food preparation steps to ensure healthy and safe meals. Additionally, it is educating custodial officials in Hajj missions about the requirements for handling narcotic drugs to ensure their proper and safe use.

This initiative comes within the SFDA's operational plan for this year to ensure the safety of food, medicine, and medical devices while serving the pilgrims. It also involves monitoring and inspecting products under the SFDA’s supervision and food establishments located within the Holy Capital Municipality and Madinah in coordination with relevant authorities.
